I suspect it's a problem with the sandbox function in NFF follower management. I tried setting Relax Ramp-Up to 0, turning off Sandbox, turning off Improved Stealth AI, turning off Enhanced Sneaking, and even trying to disable NFF. NFF has a patch for Interesting NPCs so they work with the framework. And if none of that interest you, you can create your own followers with Hall of Creation, NPC Appearance Changer, and Lazy Renamer. Aside from Interesting NPCs, the three follower mods I use that are automatically imported into NFF are Auri, Hoth, and Caesia.
