I have the Samsung surround sound bar connected to the HDMI ARC port and the Samsung TV controls it, so either the Tivo remote or the TV's control it. The Tivo remote only controls power, volume, mute and input functions and I did not program in the sound bar remote.I am following the instructions. I put new batteries in. The TiVo functions work but the light won't remain on so I can program it to control the TV or reset it. You need the Tivo & TV Power keys to program the remote for anything, so if you can't get the tv power working, you won't be able to enter a code, or put the remote into learning mode.My Tivo will not talk to my remote control.
