Once every winter i fill my food and water meter, go to the storage, take 250 logs out from storage, produce all by myself 1000 firewood, take a pause from the game for a couple of minutes. Go back after a while. Put back in the storage 1000 firewood. Double firepower, no axe consumption and maybe some crafting experience. The guy filling the water bucket should automatically put them into the food storage. If the supply has interruptions, check if there's water buckets in the food storage when they have no water.
