Regen issues, thumping sound from the motor, and a few other smaller things. The fuel pumps don't appear to be an issue on the L5P motors. Flush the cooling system. Add water to the system. Keep the engine idle and slowly add a head gasket sealer to the radiator. (There are many types of head gasket sealers available in the market. Keep the engine idle for 50 to 55 minutes. Install the radiator cap. Drain the cooling system completely.It takes the Duramax a whole 7.0 seconds to complete the run. With that said, however, the Duramax diesel’s torque rating stands at a whopping 460 lb-ft, nearly 100 more than the EcoTec3’s 383 lb-ft. The V8 might win the acceleration challenge, but the Duramax has the low-end torque to put up a good fight.If the truck can do 20 mpg empty, it burns 1.5 gal just covering the 30 miles, plus the extra 1 gallon going to the 9th injector.
