Search for Silent Gear and click the config button. Choose Common Configurations and click modify. Next go to gear and scroll down to where it says "Allow Legacy Material Mixing" and turn it on. Click back then save and close out of the mods files.

There is very little benefit to using silent gear, especially on a pickaxe. You can get max speed on an ATM pickaxe w/ enchants and apotheosis, easily enough. Going through any extra hassle isn't worth it, imo. You can get ATM in less than half an hour from starting, if you really wanted to. Even on other gear, it's not really worth it.
